Car Versus Animal Insurance Survey By Post Office
Published: 22/09/08
A new piece of research by Post Office Insurance looks at the cost of accidents involving cars and animals.
Existing data shows that there are around 1 million animals killed each year on UK roads. These include a variety of species, going up to animals as large as deer. The Post Office Insurance survey reveals that the cost of repairing the vehicles alone from these accidents totals around GBP17 million. On top of this are the additional costs of insurance premiums, personal injury requirements and also, of course, the cost to the owners of the animals, both financial and emotional.
In order to reduce the number of such accidents taking place a Post Office Insurance spokesman made a few suggestions on how to avoid them taking place. These included being especially aware in the early morning and also at dusk, when animals were likely to be most active.
