Car insurance company Esure has been studying the affect of different weather conditions on motorists, and their chances of having an accident. Of course as a car insurance company that comes as no surprise.
As the recent storm conditions have ravaged the country the figures provided from Esure indicate that the winter brings with it a thirty percent greater chance of an accident than during the Summer. This is supported by the increase in claims that Esure experience, with November alone bringing around 170,000 more claims than the previous month.
The advice coming out of the Esure research is to be aware of how road conditions differ in difficult conditions. Wet and icy roads vastly increase stopping distances and alter the grip characteristics of the car, so drivers should change their driving accordingly.
