More Floods On Way Say Halifax

With the continuing downpours that have been seen across the country the Halifax are warning homeowners that the risk of floods affecting homes is increasing. They are also advising people to take additional precautions to protect their properties against the ingress of floodwater.

A Halifax spokesman has used figures from the ABI (Association of British Insurers), which predict a 300 percent increase in the number of properties that will be at risk of flooding compared with last year. It is therefore of great importance that steps are taken to keep the water out. A simple but effective action is to place sandbags outside the doors to the property. Another simple thing is to take all financially and sentimentally valuable items upstairs to avoid water damage.

For those who find themselves affected by flooding the Halifax has an emergency helpline that is available 24 hours a day. Customers can call and receive excellent advice on how best to deal with situations, leading to a swifter return to normality and as little stress as possible during what is certainly a difficult time.
