Sainsburys are urging all pet owners to check they have adequate insurance cover for their much-loved pets.
Recent research has shown that over 30 percent of dog and cat insurance policies only provide cover for 12 months, after which the pet is uninsured. Sainsburys know, from their own data, that around a third of pet treatments will take longer than 12 months to be completed, leaving the pet owner without the insurance cover to pay the ongoing bills from the vet.
A Sainsburys Bank spokesperson said that it was vitally important to check the details of a pet insurance policy, to ensure it provided a satisfactory level of cover, especially concerning the duration of treatment.
