Direct Line Amends Car Insurance To Cover Vandalism

Direct Line have made some amendments to their car insurance policies to protect drivers against the cost of vandalism on their cars.

The new changes made by Direct Line will ensure no claims discounts are protected should a car owner suffer slashed tyres, scratching of the vehicle and also graffiti being painted on it. The insurer understands the distress these things can cause to people and do not want to add to the stress by taking no claims discounts away, or having people pay for the damage themselves by not going through the insurance company.

In 2007 around seven percent of UK car owners suffered deliberate damage to their vehicles, with around thirty percent of these acts being reported to the police. This step by Direct Line may well put drivers in a better position to report these malicious acts to the police who can then act on the information given to apprehend the culprits.
