Direct Line Warning For Drivers Leaving Valuables On View

Around ten percent of car owners in the United Kingdom could be putting themselves at risk by leaving personal documents in their cars for everyone to see according to the latest Direct Line study.

With identity theft such a big issue it seems people are still not getting the message, though perhaps an increase in their car insurance premiums and having to explain why someone has run up bills in their name will help focus the mind in future. The Direct Line car insurance study also found that it is not just documents we leave lying around. Approximately 12 percent of people leave valuable items on show in the car, the typical value being more than GBP350.

Perhaps even more startling is that 6 percent actually left their car unlocked, meaning anyone could simply open the door and help themselves to whatever is there. A positive spin on this is that we live in a safe and caring society said Direct Line.
